Kirk Langseth

KIRK LANGSETH, professional figure skating instructor at the Darien Sportsplex and Seven Bridges Ice Arena, died on May 6, 2005 at the age of 46. A native of Calumet, Michigan he had the fortune of being trained by Jack Jost, Cindi Amelon, Janet VanCamp and Sheila Barnett. Upon accepting a person as his student he would present them with his resume and personal creed that appears at the right.

A separate fund for his extensive medical expenses has been set up. Because he always wore a yellow jacket while he was coaching, his peers selected the following title:
  YELLOW JACKET BENEFIT FUND
  % WEST SUBURBAN BANK
  8001 SOUTH CASS AVE.
  DARIEN, ILL. 60561

Alternatively, skaters may wish to donate to the USFSA Memorial Fund or to the Skaters Fund in his memory.

"I believe everyone wants to become a
better human being...whatever the endeavor.
I EXPECT everyone I teach to get better...
if you expect nothing, you often get nothing.
Skating skills, like 'life skills' are taught,
learned and nurtured to allow us all to
rise to our fullest potential."
